Washington, D.C. - On Tuesday, the Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) participated in the 8th Annual Minority Business Expo hosted by the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC). EDC President and Chief 'Excitement' Officer Jim Coleman was among the economic development and business leaders that greeted the events guests and participants. Lead by Angela Franco, former CEO of the GWHCC, the event boasted over 200 business participants and over 1,500 attendees from around the Greater Washington region and beyond.
"I'd like to thank Angela Franco for all the hard work that she has put into making this event such a massive success," said Coleman. "When Angela calls, I come running because I know the type of amazing people that she brings together. As you know, Prince George's County is on fire and EDC is your growth partner when you're ready to expand or open a business development office. We look forward to working with you!"
Since its inception in 2009, the Minority Business Expo has grown from attracting 500 attendees to attracting over 1,500 in 2017. The Expo has also grown from solely highlighting Hispanic owned and operated businesses to include a diverse consortium of minority businesses from Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia. As this was Ms. Franco's final Expo as the CEO of the GWHCC, this was a particularly special occasion.
"I am very happy to be able to connect businesses from all over the Greater Washington Area," said Franco. "It is very important that we all support each other in our business endeavors and stay connected by sharing our expertise and consistently networking with one another."
