Fast Track Permitting

Prince George’s County EDC works closely with the Prince George’s County Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE), The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC), as well as the County’s Fire & EMS Department to fast track all Data Centers Projects.

Incentives

Prince George’s County boasts a portfolio of incentives for business expansion like the EDI Fund and recently the Maryland General Assembly passed Senate Bill 397 which allows local governments to reduce or eliminate the percentage of the assessment of any data center personal property used in a qualified data center. The bill also provides a sales and use tax exemption for the sale of qualified data center personal property for use at a qualified data center. SB0397 is currently at Governor Hogan’s desk awaiting signature. Learn More Here

 

Connectivity

With an abundance of water, power, and fiber optics in Prince George’s County, EDC works with local utilities to meet the growing needs of Data Center projects.

Prince George’s County recently completed the installation of 216-count fiber optics to local public schools, libraries, and community anchor institutions, joining other top fiber optic partners as part of the Inter-County Broadband Network (ICBN) in the State of Maryland.  This fiber optic network is delivering high-speed Internet and other advanced network services over approximately 110 miles of new, County-owned lines.

EDC assists with site selection and is uniquely positioned to address Data Center site readiness, generator house emissions, special agreements, and will work with utilities to make project seamless, on-time and under budget.
