On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, the Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation had the privilege of attending TEDCO’s 10th Entrepreneur Expo at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel. This premier event brought together more than 1,000 of the region’s top entrepreneurs, business leaders, investors, and influencers for an inspiring day of networking, learning, and celebration.

We were thrilled to engage with entrepreneurs and industry leaders, discuss the future of business in our region, and share PGCEDC's vision for fostering economic growth and innovation. Prince George's Economic Development Chief David Iannucci to Retire After 40-Year Career

David Iannucci, president and CEO of Prince George's County Economic Development Corp., is stepping down, rounding off a 40-year career in economic development and public service.

His retirement will become effective Dec. 31. His permanent replacement will likely not be named until a new county executive takes office following Angela Alsobrooks' election to the U.S. Senate.

PGCEDC is hosting a Mexico Trade Mission Informational Session

PGCEDC is hosting a Mexico Trade Mission Informational Session on Thursday, December 5th, 2024 at 10:00 am at the offices of PGCEDC (1801 McCormick Drive, Suite 350, Largo, MD 20774).

The trade mission to Mexico will take place from Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, to Sunday, March 2nd, 2025. The cost to join PGCEDC on the trade mission is $1550 USD without hotel and airfare, but it includes meals, transportation, and access to B2B meetings and an agenda.

On a memorable evening at Martin's West in Baltimore County, the 2024 Maryland Manufacturing Celebration of Stars brought together leaders and innovators to honor the driving forces behind Maryland's thriving manufacturing industry. Hosted by the Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland in collaboration with the Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership program, the event highlighted the extraordinary contributions of individuals and organizations shaping the future of manufacturing in the state.

The celebration spotlighted the “Maryland Manufacturing Stars,” recognizing outstanding achievements across business, education, government, and nonprofits. These honorees represent the backbone of Maryland's manufacturing ecosystem, fostering innovation, economic growth, and community impact.

ISBI Hosts Global Entrepreneurship Week Open House

For seven years, the innovation ecosystem of Prince George’s County has collectively celebrated Global Entrepreneurship Week (Nov 18-24), hosting various events from Largo to Bowie and College Park to shine a light on resources and dynamic entrepreneurs in our midst. The week started with a vibrant international marketplace and pop-up shop at Bowie State University in celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW). The Bowie State University Entrepreneurship Innovation Center, International Office, and International Student Association also coordinated International Education Week.

Mid-week, the University of Maryland hosted a Terp Marketplace to highlight innovations by undergraduate and graduate student entrepreneurs, including physical and digital products and everything in between. Students could also pitch an idea, validate their market, earn some revenue, and network with experts and innovators. The University of Maryland is ranked one of the top five schools for entrepreneurship in the U.S.

 

PGCEDC’s Innovation Station Business Incubator hosted a resource fair, tech expo, and open house with presentations by the Maryland Industrial Partnership Program, the Maryland Momentum Fund, and an IP expert discussing ways to create valuable business assets. FSC First announced the launch of a new tech company grant opportunity. The Maryland Business Opportunity Center, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, Prince George’s Federal Credit Union and UMD Center for Global Business, MidAtlantic I-CORP, and Maryland Energy Innovation Accelerator shared resources with local business owners. PerVista, Argotec, Waya, Djelfa Solutions, Ayers Naturals, TransGlobal Business Systems, HighT-Tech, Terra Fusion, OmniSpeech, Wearable Dose, and others displayed their technology and product innovations. At the same time, investors and community members learned more. 

Closing the week out, Innovate Bowie, the Bowie Business Innovation Center, the City of Bowie, and Inccuvate will host an AI-focused program aimed at helping companies scale. Local culinary entrepreneurs will provide samples of delicious treats. 

Innovation and Entrepreneurship are alive and well in Prince George’s County, not just this week but all year.

GWHCC 48TH ANNUAL GALA AND HISPANIC BUSINESS HALL OF FAME

The 48th Annual Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Gala was an unforgettable evening filled with admiration for the remarkable leaders and businesses that continue to shape our community.

One of the evening’s highlights was recognizing our PGCEDC's Latino Business Development Manager, Rocio Treminio-Lopez. Her dedication to supporting and empowering Latino-owned businesses has made a meaningful impact on the local economy.

Since 2019, the Chamber has celebrated outstanding individuals in the GWHCC Hispanic Business Hall of Fame, honoring their significant contributions and lasting influence on the region’s economic landscape.

Among the honored were the innovators from Goddard, whose groundbreaking projects and technological advancements have significantly impacted economic mobility and fostered growth in Prince George's County.

President and CEO here at EDC David Iannucci delivered a powerful address as the Keynote speaker, highlighting the critical role of innovation that drives economic prosperity. His remarks underscored the impact of Goddard’s achievements and the importance of nurturing a culture of excellence and forward-thinking solutions!

2024 MEDA Fall Conference: The Economy is International

At this year’s MEDA Fall conference at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, PGCEDC’s Lori Valentine, Vice President of Policy and Public Relations, moderated an insightful panel on the influential role of foreign investment in Maryland’s economic landscape. The event explored how attracting global businesses can boost local growth, create jobs, and drive innovation across the state and came on the heels of Maryland Economic Development Week.

 Attendees gained valuable strategies for navigating new markets, recruiting international companies, and leveraging Maryland’s unique assets to enhance global competitiveness. It was an incredible opportunity to see how economic development strengthens our state’s place on the world stage!

Creando Exitos Season 5 | Episode Four Promo

PGCEDC welcomes the latest season of Creando Exitos or "Creating Success." Now entering its sixth season of production, the Spanish language Creando Exitos is an informational program for the Latino Business Community designed to promote the services offered by PGCEDC and highlight other business resources available in Prince George's County to support and grow their companies. 

This episode features Cesar Cucufate, PGCEDC Small Business Development Manager. This season will highlight the multiple resources in the County and this upcoming episode is a testament to that.

The program provides a platform for Latino businesses to learn more about the County's Economic Development Incentive Fund, FSC First, Department of Permitting, Inspection and Enforcement (DPIE), banking services, and other programs to help them create success and showcase why Expansion Starts Here.
