ABOUT THE EVENT

Recognizing the vital role that Black-owned businesses play in the local economy, the Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation (PGCEDC) is proud to host a Black Business Month Summer Soiree at the end of August. This event, held in conjunction with the Maryland Black Chamber of Commerce, Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce, FSC First, and the Bi-County Roundtable, will serve as a platform to honor the resilience and innovation of Black entrepreneurs within the county and beyond. The Summer Soiree will provide networking opportunities and add to the showcase local Black-owned enterprises, and offer resources to help these businesses grow and succeed.

National Black Business Month, observed every August, is a crucial time dedicated to celebrating and supporting Black-owned businesses across the United States. This month-long observance highlights the significant contributions of Black entrepreneurs to the economy, fosters a sense of community, and addresses the unique challenges they face. By shining a spotlight on Black businesses, National Black Business Month aims to promote economic empowerment, encourage consumer support, and advocate for policies that enable these businesses to thrive.

PGCEDC and its partners commitment to fostering an inclusive and prosperous economic environment aligns with the goals of National Black Business Month. By hosting this Summer Soiree, we aim to create a supportive space where business owners can connect, share experiences, and access valuable insights from industry experts. The event underscores the importance of community collaboration and collective effort in driving economic growth and ensuring that Black-owned businesses continue to flourish.
