PUBLIC NOTICE: $1 Million RFP for WIOA Out-Of-School Youth Service for Providers (RFP #WDB 020-04/17)

The Prince George’s County Local Workforce Development Board (WDB) is currently accepting proposals for the delivery of comprehensive workforce services to out-of-school youth (OSY) ages 18-24 under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA-Title I). Individual and consortium-based proposals should offer innovative approaches to assist OSY in obtaining jobs in high growth occupations within in-demand industries in the region. Through this Request for Proposal (RFP), a total of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00)is anticipated to be available for OSY program.

On Tuesday, the Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) participated in the 8th Annual Minority Business Expo hosted by the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC). EDC President and Chief 'Excitement' Officer Jim Coleman was among the economic development and business leaders that greeted the events guests and participants. Lead by Angela Franco, former CEO of the GWHCC, the event boasted over 200 business participants and over 1,500 attendees from around the Greater Washington region and beyond.

Over 25 employers with current job openings and willing to hire returning citizens participated in the Job Fair and held one-on-one interviews on site. As the EDC continues its efforts to ensure that every resident of Prince George's County is gainfully employed, it dedicated the entire month of March as 'ReEntry Month' to assist the residents that are returning to Prince George's County after a period of incarceration.
