Maryland Minority Research and Development Initiative to Present "How to Win Department of Defense Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Funding" Workshop

WHAT: The Maryland Minority Research and Development Initiative (MMRDI) will hold a workshop to help minority and women-owned businesses access federal funding available for the development and commercialization of innovative research in technical fields. The workshop will focus on Small Business Innovation Research Funding (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) funding available through the Department of Defense (DOD). Attendees will receive in-depth information regarding DOD SBIR funding and intensive training provided by John Davis of the SBIR Resource Center.

Who should attend?
* Entrepreneurs and researchers of minority, woman, disabled, or veteran-owned small businesses in technical sectors

* R&D capable Minority-owned defense contracting firms with IP

* Prince George's county or Minority-owned businesses interested in learning more about developing a competitive SBIR/STTR proposal

The event is sponsored by the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO), the Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation and the University of Maryland Small Business Development Center.

COST: $100 MMRDI and Prince George's County companies, $200 All other Maryland companies.

Small and Minority Business Opportunity Fair

The Prince George's County Office of Central Services Minority Business Division will host a small and minority business opportunity fair. The Business fair will outline the County's FY'09 procurement forecast and grant opportunities, highlight procurement requirements, bonding requirements, and introduce new programs and initiatives. Senior agency officials will participate in morning and afternoon panels, along with procurement staff, to address agency specific contracting needs. The OCS booth will be open the entire day with information on certification and to assist with any questions from participants.
